Lufthansa Airlines Boeing 747-400 D-ABVW Flight 506 Frankfurt Sao Paulo Brazil Flight Diverted Engine Problem

A Lufthansa Boeing 747-400, registration D-ABVW performing flight 506 from Frankfurt Germany to Sao Paulo Brazil, was in flight at FL 31,000 over the Atlantic Ocean near Madeira about 3.5 hours into the flight when the crew decided to turn around and return to Frankfurt due to some engine (CF6) problem.

The airplane remained on FL 31,000 until top of descent into Frankfurt and landed safely in Frankfurt about 7 hours after departure.

A replacement Boeing 747-400 registration D-ABVF departed Frankfurt about 4 hour after landing and reached Sao Paulo with a total delay of 11 hours.
